Thanks to Savvy Housekeeping for showing us how to turn a bar of soap into liquid soap!  Seems pretty easy!  Have any of you tried it?

How To Turn A Bar of Soap Into Liquid Hand Soap

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 cup soap flakes
• 10 cups water
• 1 tbs glycerin

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

• Cheese grater
• Large pot
• Measuring cup & spoons
• Spatula
• Soap container with a pump
• Container to hold excess soap for storage
• Funnel

Directions:

First, grate the soap. She says it is “surprisingly easy”. Although the soap particles tend to float in the air as you grate. You can wear a mask to avoid breathing it in, if you want. When you’re done, she says the soap flakes look like grated Parmesan. (Yum!)

A bar of soap yields about 1 & 1/2 cups of flakes, so she says to save the remaining flakes for later use.

In a large pot, combine 1 cup soap flakes, 10 cups water, and 1 Tbs glycerin. Turn stove on medium-low heat and stir until the soap dissolves. This happens fast, about a minute or two.

Let the soap cool completely, then pour into the containers using the funnel. That’s all there is to it!

P.S. Next time I, Dee Dee, get bar soap for FREE, I’ll try this!!  I usually give it away!!  Cause I don’t care for it.  It gets dirty and the soap dish gets icky and it seems to take for-Ev-er to use it up.
